Matt’s focuses his practice on representing those who have suffered injuries as a result of medical negligence. Prior to his legal career, Matt earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Francis Marion University and worked as a Registered Nurse in an intensive care unit at a large South Carolina regional medical center. His medical career primarily consisted of working with patients who required coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery and those who suffered from a variety of vascular complications. In addition, Matt worked with patients in the Trauma ICU and Medical ICU, dealing with issues such as catastrophic injuries and chronic illnesses.

After leaving the medical field, Matt attended law school at the University of South Carolina where he served as a member of the Moot Court Bar and the ABA Real Property, Trust & Estate Law Journal and was awarded the prestigious CALI Award in Trial Advocacy.

Following graduation and his admittance to the South Carolina Bar, Matt immediately began representing individuals who have suffered life-changing injuries, or even death, as a result of a clinician’s failure to adhere to the standard of care owed to each patient. In his short career, Matt has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of his clients across the State of South Carolina. Prior to joining Duffy & Young, Matt practiced in Columbia where he focused on medical malpractice, personal injury, and business litigation.

Matt lives in West Ashley with his wife, Tarah, and his son, James.
